On August 1, 1981 the cable television station MTV broadcast to a few thousand residents of New Jersey its first video, “Video Killed the Radio Star”. Seven years later on August 1, 1988 Rush Limbaugh made his first nationally syndicated broadcast, which put him on the track to becoming a conservative AM radio star.
