After going to college on a football scholarship, Lombardi became head coach of the Packers.
He coached the Packers from 1959-1967. In his first year he improved the team from 9 percent win rate to 58 percent and won coach of the year.

His teams won 73 percent of games.
The Superbowl trophy is now named after him.
